If you want to update the interior appearance of your RV, gain some privacy, reduce the effects of outside ambient temperatures, or simply protect the interior of your RV from ultraviolet damage, here’s good news. Camping World and United Shade have joined to help RV enthusiasts with these very issues. It’s easy. Choose the type and color of shade you want, take measurements and install the shades.
Camping World offers four primary types of United Shade products. The first are pleated pull-down privacy window shades. The woven polyester fabric is treated so that even after years of use the pleats remain crisp. The fabric is stain resistant and complies with fire codes and standards. When the blinds are closed, they provide almost total privacy. There is also a second liner available that, when combined with the polyester fabric, offers a much higher degree
of privacy.
Another pull-down shade is a panel of crepe-type material with a cloth liner laminated to the back of the nighttime shade. The liner gives the shade an even greater degree of opacity and privacy. This shade comes with a day/night shade option. With the day/night option, a sheer fabric is included that you can pull down to give your RV a degree of daytime privacy.
The mechanism for raising and lowering the privacy shades is called easy-lift. It’s a design that features two cords fastened to the top rail, with one running down each side of the shade. The easy-lift design allows you to position the shades up, down or at any point between. The opaque polyester is available in seven colors, while the sheer material comes in three colors and three neutral tones. The crepe laminate is offered in two colors.
The second family of shades United Shade offers is the one-inch aluminum mini-blind. These are available in five colors. The mini-blinds also feature the easy-lift design for lowering, raising and positioning the blind.
The third group of shades is the windshield privacy wrap, installed on the interior side of the windshield. It is rail mounted and designed to replace OEM-installed curtains. These pleated shades (the pleats run vertically) are also made from woven polyester fabric and are available in seven colors that correspond to the colors of the previously mentioned day/night shades.
The fourth United Shade product group is the privacy door. This accordion-style, vertically pleated polyester fabric door comes in three neutral colors that blend with and complement most interior decor packages. The privacy door is designed to create a partition between two sections of the RV. It is track or rail mounted at the top and can be ordered to fit any dimension—a center-aisle opening or a side-to-side coach-wide space. Most popular is the single accordion-style door configuration, which is permanently attached to one wall. When you want to sequester a section of the RV, draw the door across and latch it to the opposite interior wall. All hardware is included.
Maintenance and upkeep on these United Shade products is both simple and minimal. When storing your RV, leave the shades in the up position. This helps maintain the crispness of the pleats. Use a damp cloth or a non-abrasive cleanser to clean the polyester fabric.
For a shade to be installed inside a window’s frame, measure the inside dimensions of the window frame. When taking measurements for a shade to be mounted outside the window, measure the area to be covered. Provide the width dimension first, followed by the height or drop dimension.
The Camping World staff can make those measurements for you.
