Additional Information
Features
Engineered for todays tow vehicles.
The AeroShield's aerodynamic design reduces wind resistance and practically eliminates turbulent winds trapped between the tow vehicle and the fifth wheel or trailer, ensuring smoother handling and improved performance. The Aeroshield can be adjusted to virtually any angle allowing maximum aerodynamic efficiency and easily folds down when not in use. Ships completely assembled (includes mounting hooks #2,#6,#8 & #9) ready for installation.
Improved stability and handling.

Ribbed Roof Adjustment
I just installed mine and I was worried about my ribbed roof based on
the review submitted by FRANK BENNETT from SPRINGFIELD, OH.
But my Aeroshield has five different adjustment holes for each of the
suction cups that allow it to fit perfectly. These might have been
added on the newer models, but adjustment holes should be able to
be drilled in older models. I like the fact that the angle is adjustable,
unlike the more expensive fixed aluminum ones. You just need to
keep raising it one click at a time until the bugs quit hitting your 5th
wheel. If it is adjusted too high, it defeats the purpose of the deflector.

Wind Deflector
It was easy and quick to install at the rear of my F-250 truck cap. I used
it to deflect air over a12ft. height 8ft 6in wide travel trailer. Most of the
4500 miles driven with the trailer behind me were at speeds of
55mph to 70mph. I averaged 10mpg with the deflector raised.Before I
installed it I averaged about 81/2 mpg. both in mountains and flat
land. The negatives were the sharp edges on the support arms that
hold the deflector raised. They could cut the securing straps as well as
fingers. After a few hundred miles check tightness of securing straps
if you don't unit may slide a few inches like it did to me.

My Thoughts
Planning a trip to the LA area from Boise ID we decided to see if this helped. We have an older 5th, a 1999 Hitchhiker. The front is more flat them most newer models.
It worked great. I did not get the 30% increase in gas mileage, more like 17 to 18%. But to be fair we did pull a lot of hills in Utah, NV and CA. The trip was over 2500 miles so we were able to test it well. Personally I feel their claims are in ideal condidtions, no wind, and a long flat road.
The thing I was most impressed by was the stability, no more pulling and tugging. It also worked great in some strong cross winds.
The price was very good and I would highly recommend this if you are in the market to buy one.

Did Not Perform as Advertised
The major problem with this wind deflector is that the clips would not work on a 2006 Ford
Super Cab, there is not enough room without bending the door for the clips. I purchased a
head rack and custom mounted the wind deflector to that. The mileage increase was not
measurable, but in defence of the deflector we are using it on a 2013 Laredo that has an
excellent aerodynamic design. i adjusted it to keep the majority of the bugs off the front of the
fifth wheel, which is the major advantage i can see in having this wind deflector.
i would recomment it for some of the older flat front trailers. I had a much more expensive wind
deflector on a previous truck, which made significant reductions in fuel usage.

Need Info.
I would like some feed back about how high people are setting their Aeroshield.. I have
not found a height that works for fuel millage. I'm using this on a 2007 F-250 5.4 pulling a
33' toy hauler. I also have had to go to a ridge mount instead of the adj. that the factory
uses. Also do not leave this on your truck in the rain. Water will pour inside. It looks good
on the truck but I'm looking for fuel millage. Also I don't see that many on the road.

Improved fuel economy 2 to 3 MPG
Product shipped quickly and arrived in good condition. It was easy to attached the straps to the unit. When I was
Installing it on my 2007 Dodge Ram 1500, one of the tie down straps broke. There is a buckle that you thread the strap through and the strap was fed through one side of the buckle
and then sewn to the other side of the strap to keep the buckle attached. The point where it was sewn together is
what broke. Customer service responded right away and promptly told me I could go on their website and order a new
strap for $4 plus shipping. WHAT???? The product was brand new out of the box. I called them and spent a few minutes
and they sent me a strap at no charge. The wind deflector worked great. I averaged 2 to 3 MPG fuel savings when
towing my bumper pull travel trailer.

It works with modification
We recently completed a 9000 mile trek across the US. On the very
first leg of the trip the adjustment arms collapsed under very strong
desert winds. Our gas mileage dropped from 10-11 mpg to 8-9. A
couple of days later I replaced the useless arms with two predrilled
angle iron brackets I picked up at Lowes. I couldn't lower it down
anymore due to the ridged brackets but did boost my MPG up 10-
12%. It works but does have a weakness in the flimsy aluminum
brackets. I also mounted the shield to a Yakima rack system on my
camper shell making it very easy to take on and off.

works well
I have had an Aero Shield for several years. Not sure it helps with mileage (I have a 7.4L engine) but keeps bugs, etc., off the trailer and anything on top of the camper shell. Relatively easy to install and remove. It does rattle against the roof of my 2000 Chevy 2500 crew cab which can be annoying (but not enough to design a cushion for under the shield.) and will allow a little drip in the cab from rain at times. If you want to try one I would recommend this for the price.

I have a 2001 Suburban 2500 with the roof rack/rails. does this bolt/strap directly to the rack?
I would have to say no it wont strap to the roof rack. It is made to utilize the drip rail/door jam to hook to and not tall enough to clear the rails. But if the base is wide enough it could be bolted or U bolted to the roof rack or you could make your own cross member and bolt it on that way..

What size do I need for my F150 super cab?
As this wind deflector is the largest size available, it is the recommended model for your truck.

Can this be mounted on a fiberglass pickup truck cap and can the straps be hooked to the bottom edge of the cap?
not easily ... the defector depends on the rigiidity of the truck roof for support. You would need to build a frame work to support the deflector in addition to the fiberglass of the cap.

How does it mount on your vehicle?
The shield sits on suction cup feet. There are two straps with mounting hooks that go between the door and the roof of the truck.
