Using the principles of heat exchange, Atwood XT 10 gallon models provide the equivalent of 16 gallons of hot water at the same size and weight as standard Atwood 10 gallon water heaters. The 6 gallon Atwood XT provides the equivalent of 9 gallons of hot water at the same size and weight of standard Atwood 6 gallon models. Choose propane or propane/electric models, all with Direct Spark Ignition for easy lighting. All models install in the same cut-out openings as standard Atwood models. A winterizing bypass is already built in.

Greater Overall Efficiency - Incorporating advanced design concepts, Atwood water heaters are the most efficient, versatile heaters available for recreation vehicles - making it easier than ever to travel with the comforts of home.

Matching access doors - Atwood access doors are painted with tough, durable paint in a variety of popular colors which ensures a clean and attractive exterior.. Mounting options - All 6 and 10 gallon models can be mounted flush into the RV sidewall for an integrated, attractive appearance.. Aluminum clad tank - Less weight and the cladding eliminates the need for an anode rod.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only 3 days of use We bought our 26 RV three weeks ago. Just returned from our first trip. The heater worked well for three days, and then quit. The manual is cryptic and lacks sufficient photos and/or illustrations. We contacted four dealers nearby authorized by Keystone to repair their trailers. All told me they no longer service Keystone trailers--some said they haven't for years. I am very frustrated. As Dometic states on their website, hot water is vital to keep the RV interior and us clean!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Died after 4 years The ignition control board failed on mine after a few years. The connector contacts corroded so badly that there was no repairing it.. It only works on electric now.

While using electric only, the hot water only lasts 5-10 seconds. What is causing this? I have not used the hot water for periods exceeding an hour still on 5-10 seconds of hot water. Any help is appreciated.

It is highly recommended that you consult with a local authorized service center for Dometic/Atwood water heaters. The dealer/service center locator tool is linked below. https://www.dometic.com/en-us/us/find-a-dealer

Is this model designed only for motorhomes or can it be used in a truck camper? If so, how does the "heat exchange" function work? Thank you, Deborah

Asked by: Deborah
This water heater is model# GE9-EXT which does not have heat exchange. Heat exchange is an extra port on the rear of the water heater that warms up the tank via heat generated from a vehicle's coolant system while running. So heat exchange should only be used on motorhomes, as opposed to truck campers or trailers due to the coolant lines that would have to be run from the water heater to the engine bay.

Can I replace G6A-8E? Do I need 120v power supply?

Asked by: Phuong
A 6 gallon XT series water heater has the same width and height requirements for cutout dimensions, but requires a depth of 18-1/2" as opposed to 17-5/8" that the non-XT 6 gallon units from Atwood require. So if the compartment has a little extra depth, it is possible to install this XT unit with no modification to the cutout. The 120 volt junction box with leads is on the rear of the water heater. A unit like this is generally wired to its own circuit breaker in the RV's power center for electricity.
