Additional Information
Shorten your stopping distance!

BrakeMaster is Roadmaster's 'direct' proportional braking system. It connects directly to the motorhome’s air or hydraulic brake system for rock-solid, reliable braking — brake line pressure in the motorhome controls the brakes in the towed vehicle. Because it connects directly to what powers your motorhome’s brakes, BrakeMaster is a truly proportional, truly synchronized braking system — however you brake the motorhome, BrakeMaster automatically applies the same pressure. Every time.

Features:

Includes a break away emergency braking system.

. Meets U.S. and Canadian braking requirements .

Shorten your stopping distance.

BrakeMaster applies proportional braking pressure on all four wheels of your towed vehicle. Reduces stopping distance and wear on motorhome brakes. Increase control and safety. Helps prevent overheating on steep downgrades. Air cylinder attaches to towed vehicle's brake pedal. Works with ABS. Includes break away kit.

Will your motorhome and towed vehicle stop safely in an emergency?

The ability to stop quickly is essential for the safe operation of your motorhome and tow vehicle. Workhorse will void your chassis warranty if you tow more than 1,000 pounds without supplemental brakes; Ford stipulates 1,500 pounds. Check with your motor home manufacturer for their towing recommendations.

Are supplemental brakes required in your state or province?

According to the American Automobile Association, most states, plus many Canadian provinces, now require supplemental brakes if the towed weight exceeds 3,000 pounds. If you have questions regarding state, province or local laws, please consult with the appropriate government agency.

What makes the BrakeMaster system better...

. Unlike most other systems, the BrakeMaster is a truly proportional braking system. As you brake harder, the towed car brakes respond in direct proportion.

. The BrakeMaster brakes all four wheels of the towed car.

. Works on vehicles with or without ABS brakes.

. Easy hook-up in seconds.

. Meets braking requirements for U.S. and Canada.

. Monitoring system indicates proper performance and braking.

. Works in virtually any motor home and towed vehicle (towed vehicle must have power brakes).

. Backed by Roadmaster - the leading manufacturer of tow bars and towing systems. This item qualifies for Product Protection Plan coverage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product - more than I expected I have had this supplemental breaking system for about two years. My reason for purchase was that I wanted to be compliant with legal requirements, and I wanted something which would store easily. Wow! Was I pleasantly surprised to find that it was VERY effective at slowing down and stopping our 40 ft. diesel pusher with a 4500 pound towed car (Jeep Grand Cherokee), especially on downhill breaking. Setting up or breaking down is simple and takes a couple of minutes. My wife can do it with ease. I recommend this product without reservation!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best brake system Had the Brake Buddy Even Brake before and it broke 3 times called Road Master after sending it in to repaired again. Customer service said they would replace my system with the Brake Master 9160 for free and would include the floor plate for my tow car. I was shocked a company with great customer service, I received it in two days works like a dream and takes seriously less then two minutes to set up and take out. The best system out there period.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great proportional braking The first thing I added to my coach! Hooks up quickly and provides proportional braking while traveling. Red light in cockpit goes on when I use the coach brakes so I know that the toad brake is working. I have used it for over a year with two different tow vehicles. If you care about safety look at this product.

Is this everything i need to install this system?

    Asked by: Denny
A number of vehicles require seat adapter brackets to install the Brakemaster. These brackets are make/model specific, please refer to Roadmaster's Braking System Guide and Seat Adapter Guide. Roadmaster also tries to note in their support material if there are additional components required to ease installation of a braking system or brake light wiring in a vehicle.

Do I need an electrical connection cable to the towed car in order to have the brake lights on the towed car come on when I apply the MH brakes?

Whether or not additional electrical components are needed will depend on the design of the brake & turn signal system of the vehicle being towed. This information is printed in the Owner & Install manuals for the Brakemaster. All manuals for Roadmaster products can be downloaded here. A vehicle-specific information guide is available here as well.
