Little Red Portable Campfire
Love the Little Red. Used it recently on a cold night. Does give out some heat. The look of the fire especially at night is nice - only wish it was bigger but, then it would not be as portable. Need to get some real
fire aroma chips to get smell of a real fire and have the full effect. I have recommended this to others who have also liked the product. Wish the unit came with the adapter for the small disposal propane cylinders. Longer cord or extension would be nice too. Even with my 'wishes' I love the product and as I said I have recommended it and would purchase it again. ( I hope I do not have to purchase it again as I hope it lasts a long time.)

Works Great
As noted by one reviewer the regulator may be plugged with a spot of
assembly grease but once it has passed the unit works great. You
may need to warm up the regulator in the sun (no flames or heat
guns please) and cycle the valve at the tank a few times the first time
of use to get it to clear.
If you turn the flame down to a reasonable level the sound of the
burner is not obvious at all and the logs start to glow a cheery red.
I picked up a Steak Saver adapter so I could use disposable
cylinders when I do not want to cart around a refillable tank.
Solidly built and highly recommended.

had doubts------------ BUT LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
Coming from the living in the woods my whole life, you burn wood
or it is not considered a fire.So I had my doubts, but went for it
because some campgrounds you cant find wood or they sell you 4-
pieces for$ 5.00.After purchasing we took a trip to va.beach hooked
this unit up and loved it.With out all the hassle of haulin wood etc.
Turn it on ,light it- open a beverage of choice and stare at it awhile and
when your done turn it off .I will allways use real wood when available
but for traveling ,where wood becomes an issue this thing is the best
solution.Only thing is every once in awhile you have to remind the kids
and some adults not to throw anything in it like a real fire.they forget
and have actually thrown in napkins etc.

Not Bad for What It Is.
I was a little skeptical but this little unit does a pretty good job, especially when there is NO fire pit. It takes a few minutes for the logs to start to glow, but then it gives off decent heat. Very portable and easy to set up (less than 60 seconds) I would recommend this to any RV'er. We made Smores on it...it took a little longer because it isn't as intense as a real camp fire, but it got the job done. I'm thinking of trying some BBQ wood chips to help give it a
little smell though, that would be nice. My only complaint, if I could come up with one, would be the size, but if it was bigger the portability goes down as well.

Does the Job
Many of the campsites we visit do not allow open wood flames. We purchased this so we would be able to sit out by the fire and roast some marshmallows with our little one without the worry of catching our surroundings on fire. After purchasing we assembled (consists of stacking the fire logs) and tested it out. The portable campfire did what it was
supposed to do. After a few minutes it began to put off heat and we even roasted a few marshmallows. Instructions state to increase gas flow for higher flame. Increasing the flow really did not make much difference and you could smell unburned propane with
higher flow. I believe we will enjoy this addition to our camping gear.

The proof is in the purchase
I bought a little red campfire because I was tired of buying expensive wood at campgrounds. We love our campfire. Portable, Cheap and Safe. We can use the campfire for 5 to 6 nights at 2 to 3 hours per night on a 5 gallon propane bottle. No sparks to start fires. Turn it off and go to bed. No smoke in your hair (the wife likes this) and the Grandkids can still BBQ hot dogs and marshmallows. The bottom of the campfire is cool enough to sit on our RV mat without burning it. Here's the real endorsement. When I started taking it along on our RV Club outings, 3 members
liked it so much they bought one. In fact the club will be buying 2 for our equipment inventory for future rally's. Not perfect, but a unique little item.... Buy it!

Portable Campfire
The Lil Red campfire unit came with two broken clamps that keep the top on. I put the Lil
Red together and lit it up with a match. The top and bottom all went up in flames. I shut the
gas supply off and checked out the bottom to discover a very loose LP gas connection was
done. I tightened that connection up and all worked fine. The fake logs are fragile ceramics
and that is a concern for transport in our RV. I suppose the best bet is to bubble wrap each
ceramic log once the unit has cooled to help ensure they do not break. I have yet to try it in
a campground, but it should work pretty slick.

Improved our lives with campfire
This little fireplace has added so much light to our life! It is small enough to allow us to have a “campfire” on our balcony. We unwind nearly every night by watching this fire, it is privitive TV. Smokeless too. LOVE IT

does the base get hot?
The firebowl will eventually start warming up but the base should stay cool to touch.

Can you cook over it?
Reviews from purchasers have said that you are warned not to cook over the unit, and others talk about cooking hot dogs and s'mores. What is the definitive answer? And I'm not necessarily talking about using a grate -- just roasting marshmallows over the fire.
The Campfire does not have anything to deter flare ups if fat/grease falls into the flames. You should not place anything directly on the logs or treat this product like you would a grill. Cookware along with the Campfire Cooktop(Camco#58033) can be used or heat foodstuffs directly that will not cause any flare ups.

See below
I have a regulator at my #30 tank on my rv and can use my grill connected directly. Can the connector be changed so I can connect directly.
For a quick connect low pressure line, no. The regulator on this campfire is also the control dial for the fire which is the primary reason to not modify the unit. <p>If your propane system is using a tee before the regulator to allow high pressure LP to an appliance, you can use the "Steak Saver" adapter to convert from ACME to disposable bottle threads.

Is this ULC approved?
No, this is not ULC approved. However a CSA approved model going by part# 58030 will arrive on the market shortly as Camco just released the product.
Date published: 2019-03-08
How long is the gas line?
Just wondering about safely having a big tank too close to the fire
The hose is 8 ft long.
