You've see the receiver hitch that attaches to your spare tire that is attached to the rear of a travel trailer. I'm wondering if I could then slide this shank into THAT? Would it be sturdy enough or would be a hanging down. I don't need 450lb capacity, I'd probably need about 250 lb. capacity. Please respond to my question. Thank you
If you have a spare tire carrier #84068 by Roadmaster, it has a 10,000 lbs. weight capacity and 400 lbs. maximum tongue weight. As long as the weight limitations are not exceeded, yes you can mount a cargo carrier with load.

If the spare tire carrier is manufactured by another company, you will need to check the specs to ensure a cargo carrier can be safely attached.
