Can this solar panel be mounted to the roof of a trailer? What SKU(s) would I need? Want to run it to an onboard battery for our AC thermostats. Thanks!

Asked by: harleyfiremedic
The supplied mounting brackets are fine for stationary use but are not good for exposed travel like on a roof. Coleman/Sunforce offers a set of universal mounting hardware(Part# 50901) that is better designed for travel versus the tab style set included with the panel. Unfortunately, we do not carry this hardware or solar mounting hardware separately so you will have to look elsewhere. Besides proper mounting hardware, you might need an extension cable depending on how far the solar panel will be from the battery. Coleman/Sunforce uses SAE 2-pin connectors like Zamp, Item# 123171 is an extension cable we carry. If this cable is not long enough, you can use it for reference to compare connectors. You will also need some sort of sealant to waterproof holes made by screws and wiring. Selection is dependant on what material your roof is made of. Since we are talking about a roof install, a self-leveling sealant like Item# 122337 or Item# 32125 would be recommended. Some companies do offer sealants in different colors(White, Black, Beige, Tan, Gray) if you want to match the color of the roof or existing sealant. What type of solar charger can I use for the low voltage batteries

Asked by: george
This solar panel is designed to be a trickle charger, the output is so low a charge controller is not necessary. However, if you would like to add on a charge controller, you can use SKU#56011
