Additional Information
Features
The Coleman Quad Pro 800-Lumen LED Lantern gives you the convenience of multiple lights in one powerful lantern. If you need to take some light with you without taking the whole lantern, simply pop one of the take-along light panels off the base to use as a personal light. Each panel also has a built-in flashlight so you have the options of directional or area lighting whenever you leave the main area.
The magnetic attachment system on each panel lets you stick them to toolboxes, car hoods, the steel frame of your shelter, or other metal surfaces for hands-free light. Or you can flip out the fold down panel handle and use it as a stand to prop the panel up on a table. When you return the panels back to the base, the batteries will automatically recharge. If every panel needs to be removed, a light on the base will stay lit to help you find your way back to the main campsite.
The Quad Pro Lantern also features a mobile charging output, so you can keep your phone and other mobile devices charged if you're not around a power source. When everything is together, the lantern shines up to 800 lumens on high for up to 20 hours or 100 lumens on low for up to 400 hours, so you can enjoy good times with your friends and family long into the night.
• 4 take-along light panels recharge on base

Can be upgraded
The alkaline Dcells are wired in 2 parallel strings of 4 batteries. I replaced them with NiMH recharagables, wired to a waterproof charging port I added near the base.
I bought a high-current 4-cell external NiMH battery charger to plug in to the port, and now I have a proper rechargable lantern. It should have come this way from the factory, but it was an easy upgrade.

Junk!
All batteries were dead when I bought it. Purchased all new batteries and went to use it a few months later, all the batteries are dead again! Coleman should make this rechargeable so it can be used more than once without constantly replacing the batteries.

Don't buy for power outages
We bought this for power outages. The problem is that the four panel lights constantly suck power from the installed D cells to stay charged. Result: No power at all when you really need it. Replacing eight D cells regularly is expensive, but if you don't, you have no reliable light source. Camping use, maybe. Emergency use, NO.

BAD
I bought in Canada, (I live in Mexico) a quad pro flashlight however only two panels light when they are removed, they should also have included a charger in the USB port for all rechargeable batteries, for reasons of ecology and economy, it is excessive cost of batteries, and inconvenient to remove and put batteries to recharge. Honestly the price of the flashlight does not correspond to your service, I am many years old and 4 coleman flashlights, I expected more from this, I am disappointed it is a pity, is there any way to modify this? Thank you

Unreliable
Pros: very bright, great concept for multiple family members to use and magnetic use for hands free operating under vehicles is great.
Cons: battery life is horrendous. Purchased, new batteries (8 D batteries) added for halloween. Let charge til Thanksgiving for setting up Christmas lights. Main unit turns on very bright but all individual lights are dead when pulled off the unit. Never got one use from them!! Onlynassume their batteries are dead and need replacing too. Not suitable as described by their matketing materials.

Great Idea! Poor Execution.
Saying this lantern is rechargeable is a touch misleading. Yes, the removable panels are rechargeable, IF you've installed EIGHT D size batteries in the base. There is no plug for the base itself to recharge. So even if you have an alternative power source, such as a portable battery powerpack, you cannot plug this unit in to charge it, or prolong its' use.
A HUGE opportunity missed here, Coleman! I'm returning it, hoping you hit it out of the park on the next version, Made in USA would be even better, even at a premium!

Fantastic lantern BUT not rechargeable?!
This is an awesome light for camping. Use it for everything. Great to rip off a panel and give it to the kids to go off into the dark.
BUT ... 6x D cell batteries? Are you guys serious. It’s 2020, why on earth would you make it not rechargeable?
We got ours as a gift, I would never have brought it otherwise.

Too many features
This lantern is expensive and has awesome features but is unable to support them. The eight D batteries are unable to keep the removable panels charged for very long, it needs more power. Buy a simpler lantern and enjoy the light!
