Features
CURT Class 3 or Standard-Duty Ball Mounts are a step up from classes 1 and 2. They feature a 2" x 2" shank and have a higher towing capacity for heavier-duty trailers, including utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, single-horse livestock trailers, and most recreational vehicle trailers. With class 3 trailer hitches being the most common type of trailer hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs, the class 3 ball mount, by association, is an excellent complement to this trailer hitch and these larger vehicles. NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component (i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc.).

Class 3 Ball Mounts are CNC-formed and robotically welded to ensure unwavering precision and dependable strength in every unit. Each one is mechanically descaled to provide a smooth surface for a long-lasting finish. The Class 3 Ball Mount comes with a durable gloss black powder-coat finish to protect against corrosion, scratches, UV damage, and more to give it the thick skin it needs to face the road ahead.

• Fits trailer hitches with a 2" x 2" receiver tube opening
• Equipped with a 1" hole to accept a trailer ball shank
• Hollow shank weighs less and can be used with an anti-rattle kit
• CNC-formed, robotically welded and mechanically descaled for a perfect fit
• Protected by a durable powder coat finish
• Trailer ball and hitch pin sold separately

CONSIDERATION FOR CHOOSING THE CORRECT BALL MOUNT

How to Determine the Correct Rise/Drop
Selecting the proper rise/drop for your ball mount will help to keep your trailer level while towing. In order to find the correct rise/drop, while your vehicle is parked on level ground, measure from the ground to the top of the opening of the trailer hitch on the vehicle. Then, while the trailer is parked on level ground, measure the distance from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler. The difference between these two measurements will tell you how much rise or drop you need in a ball mount. If the vehicle is higher than the trailer (most common), you will need a drop on the ball mount. If the trailer is higher than the vehicle, you will need a rise.

Receiver Height - Coupler Height = Rise/Drop

How to Determine the Correct Weight Capacity
To choose the correct weight rating for your ball mount, you need to know how much weight your vehicle will be towing.

If you pull multiple trailers, you can base the weight rating on your vehicle's towing capacity. For example, if your vehicle has a towing capacity of 7,500 lbs., a ball mount rated for 7,500 lbs. or higher would be sufficient no matter the trailer you're towing.

If you just tow one trailer, simply find the gross trailer weight rating, which is the most it can weigh when fully loaded, and be sure the ball mount's capacity exceeds it.

Ball Size and Ball Mount Length
Be sure to pay close attention to your trailer's required hitch ball size, which is printed on the top of the coupler. Choose a ball mount with a hitch ball size that matches your coupler's requirement. Standard sizes are 1-7/8", 2", and 2-5/16".

The ball mount length is the distance from the center of the pin hole to the center of the ball hole. To determine which length best fits your application, you should allow enough room between the hitch ball and bumper of your towing vehicle for proper attachment and secure locking of your coupler – normally around 2" to 3" of clearance.
