Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my new Wally I read alot of reviews both pro and con and was even told by camping world they took them off the shelf because of so many people complaining that they wouldnt find the satelittes ... I decided to give it a try and was very pleasantly surprised that it hooked up the very first time.. It does take some time especially downloading the software update, but it worked through the first setup just fine. No problems so far, only had it a month but it locks on quickly with my in motion Winegard dish on my 2017 Allegro bus. The RF remote is the best feature can use it inside or outside to change the Wally programs. So much better than the IR ones!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great This unit works great, first time set up does take a long time though. Downloading sfw update takes a while, but once it finished no issues. I replaced my leased 211k with a 211z which this replaced. I have 2 TVs working off of pathway x1 mounted on roof. The 211 is main in living area and this wally I put in bedroom and take outside as well works great. It finds satellites quickly and gets going quickly. It has been great these past 4 weeks. The new guide and interface/menus are great. I am ordering another and will keep it as backup.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't make it through full setup I bought it for our camper and it would not set up past step 6 downloads. It would not set up on our home satellite either. After 11hrs of fussing with it and numerous phone calls. I was told by tech support that there was a problem with it and the fix wasn't coming out the next month. But if it won't set up how can you install the download to fix it?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from software updates hard to download In a RV you must have excellent quality RG-6 coax to receive all HD channels. If you have cheap quality RG-6 coax you will only be able to pickup a few HD channels. I had to have a RV dealer replace my coax with a better channel in order to receive all my HD channels. The existing cheap coax work fine for OTA channels and cable TV but not for HD channels from satellite dish. You can only record one channel and watch the same channel at the same time with the external optional hard drive. I had to take my Wally to an authorized Dish Dealer to have them connect my Wally to their antenna system to download the software updates, after that everything worked fine. If you leave your Wally disconnected for a couple weeks from your RV you will need to call Dish to reactivate every time you reconnect it. It was a struggle at 1st but everything is working now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I hesitated to buy the Wally because of previous reviews saying it was difficult to set up. I bought one to replace a 612 that ran so hot it would overheat sitting in the wide open. I needed the RF remote. It couldn't be simpler to install. Although, it does take some time, it does it mostly by itself. I plugged it in and let it go to town. I called dish when it was time to activate and that took about 10 minutes with no hassles. I liked it so much I bought 2 more with the same results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No problem There is absolutely no problem hooking up. I had to set the switches on the dish to work with Dish Network. I turned on the satellite dish and TV and then the receiver. It took a little bit to lock in on the satellites and longer to download updates, but it all worked smoothly. I did not need to activate on a home dish as others have stated. I did not need to connect to the internet. Just call the 800 number to activate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great Really like the Wally. Seems to work better than the old vip211z did with my old Tailgater dish. I also purchased from Dish the wireless receiver for internet. The RV park I recently visited had good wifi and ability to watch on demand was great. Would differently recommend the Wally to anyone needing to replace there old 211z.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wally/ wineguard support I created a new Dish account for the use of Dish's Wally with Winegard's Playmaker. I very quickly ran into problems with the setup looping on the state selection screen. I made contact with Winegard's tech support, and they immediately told me that the problem was with the Wally receiver and Camping World exchanged the receiver without any questions. I plugged in the new receiver and proceeded with the setup procedure. With the new receiver, the setup proceeded to completion without a hitch. The setup will take the better part of an hour. A few times, it seemed to be repeating what had already done. However, I did not interfere and let it run on its own. At the normal end of setup, there appears a screen with a button to Watch TV. After clicking that button, the remote's guide button worked just fine, and I was able to watch enough TV to validate that the setup process completed normally. In a couple of days, we will go camping. I strongly suspect that it will be smooth sailing from here.

will I be able to watch dish on more than one tiv in my rv?

Asked by: bigred
It depends on which version of the Tailgater that is being used. The DT4400 that we have listed as SKU#115863 can only support one(1) satellite receiver as it only has a single coax output. While the Tailgater Pro(DTP4900) which we have listed as SKU#115864 can support two(2) satellite receivers as it has dual coax output. Keep in mind that there is a performance limitation to these portable satellite antennas. When two receivers are hooked, you can watch different programming on each TV but only if the programming is beamed from the same satellite. The receiver connected to the Main output will be the unit that controls which satellite the antenna will lock on to. For more specific information on this, you can reach out to Dish directly at 1-800-472-1039 or customerservice@dishformyrv.com

How much power does the wally consume? How much power when a dish tailgator pro is attched?

Asked by: Bill
The Wally consumes 40 watts. The Tailgater is not going to consume anymore wattage then what the receiver is doing. As it gets all its power from the receiver.

IF i have a dish account at one location (house) can i purchase this receiver and put it in my RV and travel through out the country and receive dish tv? I saw it said that it can be added to the same account for $7.00 a month.

Asked by: Mike
Correct, existing DISH subscribers can add a Wally receiver to their current account for an added receiver monthly fee($7.00 unless DISH changes the fee amount) so that satellite programming can be watched while traveling. A DISH Network compatible rooftop mounted or portable satellite antenna will also be necessary to have DISH programming in your RV. The product category linked below lists antennas that we currently stock. https://www.campingworld.com/electronics/satellites-receivers/satellite-antennas
