Rated 3 out of 5 by from Well made but not all parts included I bought the Dockmate 5 step ladder. No instructions came with the ladder. I went on the web and found the instructions and then noticed the two bolts needed to secure the rails to the frame were absent. I did purchase the installation package but that was for mounting the ladder to the dock itself. I also did not like care for "tying a knot in 3/16" cable" like the instructions said (not that easy). Ok, all that being said, once the ladder was mounted it was very sturdy, nicely made, and easy to raise and lower from the dock. I tried lowering it while in the water and it was a bit challenging. Making me go look for instructions and having to buy the 2 bolts droppe the ladder by 1 star in my review.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Caveat Emptor! Note that the Dockmate ladder is not five steps! Dockmates counts your dock surface as the first step. Check you water depths - you may really need a true 7 step ladder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality ladder, easy to install Excellent quality ladder, easy to assemble and easy to install. Tying a knot in a 1/8 steel cable is not a good solution for holding the two sections of the ladder together. I used small cable clamps that cost only .99 which was a much better solution. Would definitely purchase this ladder again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality ladder. The assembly was fairly easy, except for tying a knot in the cable. This is not a good solution for attaching the cable. My idea and solution were a set of 1/8" cable clamps. Not very expensive to provide.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice ladder for tidal water Nice ladder that makes it much easier to get in and out of the water. I live on tidal water and the 5 step ladder does a good job of enabling use regardless of tide. I also like that I can pull it up when not in use to avoid having things grow on the ladder. It stays put nicely however it can be a little clunky when putting it up or down. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PERFECT LADDER FOR MY FAMILY. We installed this ladder at the end of an eighty foot dock. The ladder slides up and down with ease. It can be made long enough so that it is ultra easy to paddle onto the step and climb up. It is significantly easier than climbing the ladder on our pontoon boat or runabout boat. When you retract the lift ladder it truly stays out of the water so no scum will adhere to the ladder. It is a very well made ladder. We love it enough that it increases our motivation to take a quick dip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice ladder The quality seems good and it has held up well so far. We installed it using stainless steel lag screws and washers. We used 2 cable clamps on the end of each cord instead of tying knots. Be sure you have the cables in the right place (outside of ladder handles) before you tie the knots or attach cable clamps. The only downside for this ladder that we have seen is the fact that fingers can be cut or pinched since it does slide up and down for use and storage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dockmate ladder This is a high quality ladder. Buy the brackets, sold separately, they work, contrary to another review. I'm using for a swim raft and the wave action keeps pushing ladder off the keepers, otherwise five stars. I will need to get straps to hold in place.
