Electric Trailer Door Locks, Right Hand is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Unreliable electronic lock I wanted to replace RV manufacturers entry lock due to common key access. I chose this lock as a replacement and it does replace the key lock with an alternative key lock. However, when in direct sunlight, the electronic feature (combination) will not work. When out of direct sunlight, it works. Do not choose this lock for the electronic feature, it's unreliable - e.g. Do not, repeat, do not lock this lock without your keys in hand. If all you need is a replaceable key lock, then buy just that. Don't waste you money on this brand for the electronic feature.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I sold mine for scrap metal I was very excited to put this on my RV as I hate having to carry keys around and I wanted any member of my family to be able to get in without me there. I didn't want to make lots of copies of the key. However, I quickly ran into several problems, any one of which would have caused me to scrap it. 1) Lack of security-There are only 4 buttons and only a digit code. That means only 216 combinations. I could try every one in 5 minutes. 2) Too much spring force on the plunger-It was extremely difficult to close the door and had to hold the handle open while closing. Bauer claimed that they had to make it that way to comply with federal law but I have not seen any other latches that stiff. 3) The inside controls were too jammed up and hard to see. The stairwell in my motor home is not well lit and trying to operate this thing in the dark was nearly impossible. There were others that I don't remember but the bottom line was that I took it off after two or three trips and trashed it. I called Bauer several times and they talked like they would help but never did so I gave up on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replacement works perfectly Installed 1st lock and it would work 2 or 3 days and then would stop working. Had to use key several times to open door. Called manufacturer and a live person answered the phone. She was very knowledgeable about the lock and gave me some great tips on installing the lock. After talking to her for about 15 min. she decided the lock needed to be replaced. She sent a new lock with a prepaid return label, and I received it in 5 days. I installed the new lock and it worked perfectly, every time. The lock is by far a much better lock than the standard lock that came on the RV. It is a very solid and well built lock. I love not needing to walk around with extra keys in my pocket. The code buttons work extremely well and take hardly any pressure to select the code. The new code is very easy to set up and the express locking feature is very handy, takes about 1 second to activate lock. A lot quicker than using a key. There are a couple of things to be sure of, 1) The wire that feeds battery power to the lock must not be run to where the wire is squeezed between the two cases. 2) door jam must be filed so as to allow the dead bolt to move freely.

Will this work on a Jayco RLSA351 fifthwheel?

Asked by: Anonymous
We cannot confirm fit based on RV make/model. This latch is universal and uses a cutout of 2.75"W x 3.75"H. Please view the <a href=http://www.campingworld.com/includes/productSpecs/013-509%20&%20530.doc>measurement diagram</a> to verify fit.

What determines left hand or right hand?

Asked by: Anonymous
When walking into the RV from outside, if the door hinge is on the Right side then the latch is 'Right Hand'. If the hinge is on the left side then a 'Left Hand' latch is used.

Can the code be changed after the original code has been set?

I would like to know if we could change to a temporary code on trips when we have guests with us so that they may have access without providing them with the original code we would return to after that trip is finished.
Asked by: Bree
Yes, the latch can be reprogrammed or reset by the owner when needed. <a href=http://www.bauerproducts.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Bauer-NE-Instructions-23-Mar-15.pdf>Instruction Manual</a>
