Good, sturdy material and adjustable air flow. The sturdy is what I was after.

The registers I want to replace are metal. I like the damper feature, but am unsure the plastic material is strong enough to withstand standing on it.
Yes this can be installed on the floor, however stepping on the register is not recommended it will likely crack. You can probably find a better assortment of floor registers with a home improvement retailer.

No, this floor register does not come in a brass finish. From the dimension you provided, you might want to take a look at AP Products #013-640 & 013-641 as they have outside dimensions of 3-5/8"x11-3/8" and cutout dimensions of 2-1/4"x10".
