Rated 3 out of 5 by from Heavy Duty Kingpin Stabilizer It would be nice if the legs were longer, in order to get it to work on my 28' fifth wheel I had to compress the legs together almost to the point of instability, luckily I had some square tubing from a previous project and I made new longer legs. When I purchased mine there was no data regarding the working height of the unit that would have allowed me to accurately gauge how stable the footprint would be.. While doing my review I stumbled across leg extensions for this unit, why should you need leg extensions? according to my dealer all fifth wheel king pins sit at approximately the same height while at rest! maybe they should fix the design flaw.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just starting out Just got our first RV and this is one product We thought would be beneficial to have. We were right, it really made a difference. We have the front living floor plan with five grand babies hopping around and we noticed much less bounce/movement so yes, it helps to stabilize . We also bought the extensions but have not used them yet. The only issue I have is the bottom plate on the legs, very, very sharp considering kids running around barefoot playing hide and seek after dark. We put leveling blocks under them to get the sharp corners up and less likely to be stepped on. Product does what it claims just one safety issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultra-Fab Tripod I bough one of these when we bought our first Jayco 5er, after having 6 travel trailers. It took the "wiggle out of the Jello"! Really works, just crank the 5th wheel a bit higher than level, screw the tripod's "cup" up till it covers the king pin, snug it down, then power down your fiver till it sits firmly on the tripod. Rock solid! And a good strong padlock (not the crappy one included!) and you have at least some anti-theft protection. Heavy, yes, but thats what makes it better than the aluminum version! Honestly worth every penny paid, likely the best thing I've bought for our 5er so far!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stablized the Front of the 5th wheel Did the job stabilizing the 5th wheel. We have a 2014 Forest River – Wildwood - Heritage Glen Fifth Wheel - 366BH which is 42 feet long. When anyone would walk around the master bedroom or go to the bath/shower everyone inside the camper felt it. After installing the Heavy Duty King Pin Stabilizer with the leg extensions (don't forget to measure before ordering or you maybe too tall to install it.) This firmed up the 5th wheel and now we can walk around without disturbing everyone, especially going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy Duty King Pin Stabilizer We have an 11,000 lb fifth wheel. This stabilizer took 90% of the movement out of our unit. The assembly directions could have been better, but it wasn’t that difficult to figure out how to assemble the stabilizer. Initial assemble took about 15 minutes with basic tools. After assembly, I was skeptical. The stabilizer seemed too light to really work. However, after only a couple more minutes to put in place and adjust, I was proven wrong. Once tightened into place, the structure was much more rigid than I expected. I then realized the design is based on simple triangles for a rigid design. The results were great. Most of the sway in our fifth wheel is gone. We are very satisfied, especially for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Customer Support I bought this for our 5th wheel and used it almost 2 seasons. While I was unscrewing the pin cup, the threads somehow cross-threaded, (this was in the middle of thethreads, not at the start). This effectively destroyed the adjustable part of the stabilizer. The included chain alsobroke after the second use. The manufacturer has a lifetime warranty on the stabilizer, and after a quick e-mail with the company, they sent me the parts to fix it. This stabilizer works great, there is no movement in our 5th wheel.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Falls short... I could not find clear information on the height the stabilizer extends to. After contacting a customer service representative I was directed to technical support. The technician advised me the unit is 48-56 fully extended. I ordered the unit based on these measurements. I am disappointed to report that these measurements apply to the stabilizer in the position whereas the legs are not extended in the open (triangular) position. Upon expanding the legs(as shown in the Camping World photo) the unit falls short with a maximum height of only 48 from the ground to the bottom of where the kingpin would rest. This will not work for me and I am awaiting shipping return labels from Camping World. I am told I should see the return labels in 2-3 weeks. This does not seem reasonable since the stabilizer was delivered in less than 1 week.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works as a lock too Saw a bi-pod on my cousins 5th wheel and didn't look stable. Got the tri-pod and then also asked about a pin lock and the salesman said it's all there. The Stabilizer came with a lockalready. Easy to set and use. I even set it at the house so that it's out of the way and the pin is locked. Good product. I recommended that my mother-in-law get one and she looked at my cousins and went and bought a tri-pod just like mine. Works Great!!!!!!!

Does this work on a king pin that has a capture plate for the super glide hitch?
Asked by: Dave
Whether or not this stabilizer can be used will depend on the physical design of the capture plate. The cup on this stabilizer has an inside diameter of 2.94" and is 2.87" deep. Some owner's trim down the height of the cup or set a woodblock inside for clearance.

what if legs are to long

Asked by: DENNIS
If the lowest height of 42" is too tall, then a tripod with a shorter starting height would be recommended such as #64850. This tripod has a starting height of 35" and can adjust to 55". Or #71258 which starts at 37" and can adjust to 60" in height.
Leg extensions are available for most Ultra-Fab tripod stabilizers to increase height if the top height happens to be too short. However, the tripods can not be modified for a shorter height, if modification is performed. Any resulting damage, injury, or death that may incur is the sole responsibility of the owner.

What is the purpose of the chain in the middle of the device?

Asked by: Photocon
The chain controls the height of the unit. Pulling on it raises the height and is then 'locked' in place. Installation Instructions
