Lock works well, but hitchpin rusts in time.
The lock works well I particularly like the soft plastic cover that protects it from the weather... The lock tumbler is of average security, with a standard type key similar to a cabinet lock that is reproducable at most key duplication counters.
Take note that hitchpins come in two diameters... 1/2 inch and 5/8 inch. Be sure to get the correct size. Some locks come with a sleve to convert from a 1/2 inch shank to 5/8". I believe this lock does not have an adapter and must be ordered by size.
I use this to secure a 20K pound capacity 5th wheel hitch and have no serious problems towing my 8K pound trailer.
The down side items are as follows
1. The hitch pin is about 1/2" shorter than the standard pins in my hitch, which will often cause the pin to wedge into a position such that the pin (not the lock) has to be released using a pry tool.
2. The chrome on the hitch pin does not stand up well to the weather. I am beginning to see some pitting and rust after about two years of use.
