Do you need to turn the camera on manually or does it come on when you turn on the display?

I am considering this for a class C rv and I am wondering can I leave it off but then turn it on while traveling down the road. Also is the camera safe to travel at high speeds with it turned on?

The monitor and camera operate off of an internal battery, both units have to be manually turned on. The suction cup mount has been tested to hold up to 150mph, a tether accessory is available from the manufacturer here to provide a backup in the event the mount comes loose.
