This toilet uses a cartridge feeding system for the bag. Each flush seals the contents and new material is pulled from the cartridge. A single cartridge is used until a red line appears which indicates the cartridge needs to be replaced. A video on how to remove the cartridge can be watched here. A video on how a new cartridge is installed in the toilet can be viewed here.

What are the batteries for and how do you clean it?
The toilet has a rechargeable battery pack installed by the manufacturer, a 12V DC cord for recharging the battery pack is included. Said battery pack operates the 'flush' system in this toilet and lasts approximately 300 flushes before a recharge is needed. A demonstration can be watched here. This toilet uses a bagging system instead of a holding tank like most other portable toilets use, minimal cleaning is required so a damp cloth can be used most of the time. Soap and water can be used if more aggressive cleaning is required but the toilet should not be immersed in water.
