Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good unit, but the transducer is not I can only say good things about the unit itself. However the transducer has some issues. The sidescan and downscan is great, but the wide angle of the of the chirp sonar makes it almost useless when you go on deeper. Below 16 m the signal from the bottom is so weak that the auto range keeps changing from 16 to 2m. It is almost impossible to see anything else than the bottom when you go below 5m. During vertical fishing i can see my lure perfect on the downscan but it is invisible on the chirp. I have fiddled around with the settings and it seems like the wide angle chirp is just useless below 5 meters. Can i buy i normal totalscan transducer and use that instead of the tripleshot on my Hook2?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Everything was great....."but" Purchased 2 units and went to install one up front and one at drivers helm and put transducers in the back of boat..."BUT" the transducer wire wasn't long enough to plug into front unit and can NOT find a extension wire(even from Lowrance) and was told by them that they have not produced a extension wire yet. So one unit is working, other unit just sitting there for its own good looks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality or poor value I have had this unit for 7 months and the sonar continually gets hung up and will not pick up the bottom when it gets in deeper water . I have used lowrance products for years never had a problem. This is the most expensive unit I have ever purchased and have been very disappointed in its performance. I am working with lowrance to try and resolve this issue. I am constantly having to restart the unit to correct the sonar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HOOK-2 -12 I PURCHASED THE HHOK2-5 FIRST AND JUST LOVED THE PRODUCT SO I PURCHESED THE HOOK2-9 & HOOK2-12 FOR MY BOAT AND PUT THE HOOK2-5 ON MY KAYAK THERE CANNOT BE A BETTER UNIT OUT THERE FOR THE SIMPLICITY OF UASE AS WELL AS THE SONAR AND DOWN SCAN AND SIDE SCAN FOR THE AVERAGE ANGLER LOWRANCE DONE A GREAT JOB OF PUTTING ALL ANGLER ON A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not what I expected from Lowrance I'm well aware that the new Hook2 12 tripleshot, is probably 2 steps down from the older HDS 7 Gen2 touch, BUT....I am VERY disappointed in the fact you cannot use a separate antennae such as the Point 1 to speed up the GPS refresh rate. Even when running at mid-range speeds(45-60 mph), the internal; antennae on the Hook2 cannot refresh fast enough to keep up with the SOG! Therefore, you have a "black out" band that follows your cursor while running. Also, I have the Navionics chip installed, which does in fact allow the unit to show contour lines, underwater structures, etc., BUT....if you zoom OUT to view maybe an entire creek arm, the contour lines are broken up and distorted, when you zoom IN, the lines however, do clear up. Also, I've noticed when in use during daylight(bright sunlight), GPS screen randomly changes color? It may be showing a "blue colored" area of a given lake, then for whatever reason, may change the background of the same lake area to black? I'll confess, I'm not a rocket scientist when it comes to going in the the settings options, and start changing(tweaking) a lot of the settings, I'm afraid without expert knowledge, I'll only make things worse! With all that being said, I can only rate my initial experience with this model 3 stars. I do not have any complaints with the sonar, side scan and downscan capability of the unit, other than the fact you may see fish arches on standard sonar, but if you have the split screen option in view, side by side while running downscan, those same fish arches may NOT appear on downscan screen, even after changing palette colors....there again, maybe the settings need to be tweaked? If I had known you could NOT install a separate antennae with this unit, I would have probably purchased the Elite Ti to have that option....but no more than I fish tournaments, and fish for pleasure, I didn't feel I needed all the PROFESSIONAL options of the more EXPENSIVE Elite and Carbon models. Just show me where I'm at on the lake, and let me see the brush, creek channels, fish and structure when using sonar, and I'm happy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst money I ever spent I bought this last year and installed on our pontoon boat. Epaced this year with a GOOD fish finder that works, not a Lowrance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Unit Rocks!!! I just love this new Lowrance HOOK2-2, this unit is very easy to use all the features and lets me find the fish out on Michigan's Great Lakes fast and easy. Even the wife and kids are able to easily use this unit. I have had 2 other Lowrance units over the years and I am now hooked for life

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far I like it. Need more time to fully evaluat Love the built in GPS antenna. GPS easy to use and accuracy seems right on. Sounder looks good, need a Bahama trip(soon) to fully test it out. Note, put in your installation, to manually push the transducer connector in very hard. Had to call in when sounder did not work.
