The disposable propane bottles have a 1" thread. This hose will connect, usually, to a portable grill regulator that uses disposable propane bottles. While the ACME nut on the other side will attach to a refillable propane tank that has an OPD valve.

If your grill is normally run off 1 pound (throwaway) cylinders but want to connect to a 20 or 30 pound tank. Yes this hose will work.
