Additional Information
Perfect for staying warm indoors, the Mr. Heater Big Buddy Portable Indoor Propane Heater combines safety with high-performing and adjustable warmth. The single control start knob lets you light the unit with a simple push and rotation, while the built-in Piezo sparking mechanism takes care of the rest. Additionally, the knob lets you switch between the 3 output settings: 4000 BTU/hour (low), 9000 (medium), or 18000 (high). This adjustable 4,000 - 18,000 BTU/hr output offers up to a 450 sq. ft. area of heated coverage, making the Big Buddy perfect for heating up enclosed spaces like a cabin. Integrated fan blends radiant and convection-style heat, so you get the best of both worlds and an increased heating capacity (operates on 4 x D batteries or AC adapter, not included). Ensuring years of safe and comfortable indoor heating, the Big Buddy features an Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) and accidental tip-over safety shut-off. For operating power, the unit connects to two 1 lb. cylinders with the 2 swivel regulators (1 on the left, and the other on the right side of the unit), or to a 20 lb. cylinder with optional hose and filter (not included)*. Furthermore, a Quick Connect fitting on the left side of the unit can connect to a remote gas supply with a single hose and filter (not included)**. Note from manufacturer: propane tanks larger than 1 lb. must be kept outdoors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toasty Warm with the Big Buddy We had to travel to Ohio this winter. The temperatures reached 7 degrees, yet we were toasty warm with the Big Buddy Heater. It worked like a charm. We had it hooked up with the adapters to a regular size tank and didn't have to deal with frequent changes of propane bottles. We especially liked the 'fan' feature which kept our motor home warm even during an ice storm. The safety features are great and give you great peace of mind. Most of all... THEY WORK. We tried to move it slightly to adjust it... and the unit turned off immediately. Our family members in Ohio are going to purchase one for their garage. We highly recommend this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent extreme cold RV undercarriage heater! I use this to heat the entire underside of my 35' 5th wheel when temps drop below freezing. I am a full time RV'r living in Montana where winter temps drop to NEG 40 at times. My RV is skirted entirely during winter. I place the heater below the king pin and feed it with a 40# propane cylinder. I place a small electric fan behind and above the heater to push the hot air under the entire RV bottom. The 40# can will last 10 days when heater on low. Another plus is it keeps things dry underneath and stops condensation from occurring. This heater keeps everything toasty warm underneath and the entire interior comfortable with less need for furnace. It has cut my winter heating propane cost dramatically!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little heater Purchased this heater to supplement main heater for faster warm up in winter months. Unit works great and have also used it as a stand alone heater. Would of been 5 stars but the disposable cans don't last very long. We have been using a 20 lb bottle (get the filter and power adapter too while purchasing the hose) and it alone has kept our 36' fifth wheel warm all night with outside temps in the teens. As with any propane appliance make sure the RV Co2 and propane detectors are functioning properly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Need portable heat - this is the answer We dry camp in the Smoky Mountains in our Coleman popup in fall and early spring and you always need heat. With no utilities in their camp grounds this was the answer for us. Lots of heat when needed and can also just knock off the chill. Use the bulk propane tank as it will go through the small bottles quickly on high. I like the battery powered fan as well. It also has an optional AC adapter for the fan. Bottom line, lots of heat, low cost and great for emergency heat anywhere, anytime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works great in class A We have two big buddies set up while fixing our suburban 42,000 btu furnace. I actually like the big buddies BETTER because there is no noise, they are very efficient, and use radiant heat. The hose hook- ups work great (must be the specific hose--don't buy the wrong ones twice like we did). You can go on just the little bottles, but be sure to buy a mr heater propane adapter to use your big bottles to fill your little bottles. Enjoy!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great I have used this in my pop-up camper when camping at or below freezing. Had a propane company modify one of the Mr Heater hoses so i could connect it to my stove quick connect inside the camper. I have only used it above low a couple of times, usually when coming back to a camper aroundfreezing to warm it up. I would advise getting the adapter for the fan because it eats the batteries if you use it. I have found it helps the air flow. It also doubles as my emergency home heater if the power goes out for an extended period of time when very very cold. I have a Carbon Monoxide detector in both home and camper and the catalytic heat has never set it off. It was well worth the money I paid and was a cheaper choice than installing a furnace for those few times I need a heater in the camper and the heat strip in the AC unit is unable to do the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Money well spent I've temporarily relocated for work. It's winter in New England and my Suburban furnace died. I was using an electric heater but it was very inadequate. I bought Big Buddy and I have been warm since. It heats my 26' easily on Med, I haven't used High yet. It is 65 inside and 9 outside right now. The Big Buddy is easy to use and safe. This was money well spent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Heater for The Price This heater works EXACTLY as intended! I purchased it to go in my office, and it heats up the area around it quite quickly, and had no trouble keeping up with people opening and closing doors all day. I made a video review over at CampHeaterGuide.com, and I was really impressed at the quality for the price. You won't go wrong with this heater!

vent

To be on the safe side, ---- putting this heater in an 8' x 12' travel trailer, how big a vent should I run from outside to the back of this heater? 2" - 3" ? What do I need to hook this heater to my existing 1/2" black pipe for LP ?.
Asked by: arkieguide
The manual states the required minimum vent area to be 18 square inches (ex. 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" opening). Hose #34464 can utilize the quick connect on the heater to a pre-existing regulated (11" w.c.) LP source. Hose #24032 or #24031 can be used in conjunction with the fuel filter per hose, when direct connecting to a refillable tank. Or Mr.Heater quick connect hose with regulator, #F271803, can be used as well.
