Rated 2 out of 5 by from The controler fails I'm trying to use this panel to keep my rv battery charged, but the controller has failed for the second time. The last time water splash up corroded the controller and killed it. I did receive a new controller under warranty. I added pvc splash guards to protect the controller but it has failed again killing my new battery because of system drain. This is also the second battery that I had to replace. The controller is velcroed on and it falls out in the South Carolina heat. I had to build 2 brackets to hold it on and keep it separate from the panel back. This is a fair weather system at best, and the connections and controller are not weatherproof.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall Good Product I purchased the 80 watt version 9 months ago. I started using my panels recently and have been pleased with the output (voltage observed as high as 13.2), but I have a "Jules Goldberg" setup (using trailer wiring, see "Go Power" accessories). I observed the controller velcro glue/sticky melted causing it to fall off the panel, I plan to correct this by either "pop" riveting the controller to the frame or using sheet metal screws. I am pleased with it's utility.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An addendum to my review I was contacted by Nature Power after my review, and they offered me a new controller which will arrive this Wednesday, so I will give them 5 stars for their product support. I will probably figure out a splash guard to protect it from the heavy thunder storms we have here. This does a good job in keeping the battery charged.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works good but controller doesn’t Had bought it a year ago and it worked great. It would charge the batteries full during the day. After 3 or 4 times being used the controller stop working and no power output.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for continous outdoor use. I was using this to keep my trailer battery charged, but due to rain splashing up from the ground, the controller stopped working, and anything steel rusted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ease of setup Easy to setup and connect to the battery. I set it up so it is inside on the dash of my RV.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smaller unit that works well for it's size Works well for our smaller motorhome. On a sunny day it raises the battery level 1 volt.

Basically, how does this unit work to re-charge an RV battery and what are the dealer installed solar plug-ins for on a newer RV? ie: does this unit plug into the RV directly as well?

Asked by: Mic S
How to use a solar panel kit like this depends primarily on if the RV has a factory install solar input and who made the input port. Two of the primary kinds out there are made by Zamp Solar and by Furrion. Zamp uses a SAE 2-pin configuration, which is the same type of connectors used by Nature Power. Furrion on the other hand uses a unique connector, so an adapter would have to be located when using solar panels not marketed as Furrion compatible. This briefcase solar panel has a charge controller that will turn on automatically when all connections are established. In the event a solar input is not installed on the RV. SKU#90097 includes a set of battery clamps so that you can attach this solar panel & charge controller directly to a battery.

What are the dimensions of the unfolded unit? I have a Solitude 5th wheel which is pre-wired for solar power (there is a solar receptacle on the exterior), do I still need to use the charge controller in this case? Thanks!

Hi - I am interested to know if the controller must be used when my 2019 Winnebago View class C motorhome has a prewired solar port.  Someone else asked this but I do not see an answer.  Thanks
