Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for camper Got this little heater for our camper. Used on the floor with optional legs. Did not have the wall space next to a gas line for wall mounting. It saved the battery on a 9 day hunting trip! All past trips had to use generator (not used at all during trip) to keep battery charged due to heater use. Used almost every night on low all night. High setting to much except for those who like it very toasty. Not sure about gas usage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work very well and easy to install I was somewhat reluctant to pay out $200 for a backup heater but it was well worth the money. I have had to live in my 5th wheel this winter in New England. I was afraid that, with all the use my regular furnace was getting, I might need an extra backup heater. As it turns out my furnace has been up to the task ( 11 deg so far) but I am still glad I have this as a backup because it doesn't need electricity. It works axactly as described and gives off a warm glow that you can feel all the way across the room. It does not give off any odor even the first time we used it. We mounted it on it's side, which they say makes it harder to light, but it was still easy to light. It takes minor skill and trip to the hardware store to installI the pipe from your tanks to the heater. Once I got all the parts (copper pipe, fittings and pipe compound) I only needed a drill, a pipe flaring tool ,a screw driver and a cresent wrench to install it. I recommend this heater.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Heater I made the mistake of buying this on an auction site. I ended paying more than CW's sale price. I installed this heater myself, but I'm a very experienced installer for LP appliances. If you do not have the know how, tools, etc, have a professional do it. It's not worth the danger or pain of installing it wrong.------- This is a great little heater. I kept it on 'low' last night and it kept it about 55F while it was 25F outside. This little one uses the least amount of LP. It only consumes about 1/8 lb per hour, which if left on 24 hours will last 6 days on a 20lb tank. It does however take a few hours to heat up the area from 25F to get to 55F. I imagine that if I'd kept this on high it would be much warmer. I live in a 24' Class A and heat front/back separately which this works great. It heats approximately 100 sq ft effectively.------- I usually only use this when it's extremely cold outside or when I'm cooking in the front and need it to be a little warmer since the floor is tile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy with this Heater and Camping World Customer Service This review is both for the wave 3 heater and for camping world customer service. I purchased this heater and initially it appeared to work. The way you start this heater involves spraying the catalytic material with propane for a few seconds, igniting and holding the propane on for 60 secs, and then adjusting the propane to the high setting for about 10 mins. Afterwards, you can lower the heat setting. After I purchased it and set it up, I always let it run for about 3 to 4 mins and then turned it off;why waste propane right. When I took it out on my 1st trip in my camper, which just so happened to be right when the return policy expired, only to find out that it was actually defective. The heater clicks and turns itself off after 4-5 mins of otherwise normal operation--I've actually found documentation on the web about this happening to a handful of owners--it may have to do with a defective thermo coupling. I called camping world customer service admittedly a bit frustrated. They took care of me and made the situation right. While on my trip with the defective heater, I was able to run it for a few minutes at a time, and then restart; which the manual explicitly calls out as something you should NOT do...just FYI. I can tell it is going to do a perfect job of heating my 400sqft camper. So in general I am pleased and am excited about getting a working unit setup.

What sort of ventilation does it need?

I have a 27 foot travel trailer bed in one end, kitchen on other end. that I want to add a backup heater so that I don't drain the battery on the trailer. I use a CPAP at night. What is the recommended placement since it will be on stand and not mounted on a wall.
    Asked by: Red20
The Olympian heaters must have a total of at least 24 square inches free-air opening(i.e. an opening of 4"x6"=24 square inches). Ideally the heater should be pointing at the area, objects, or persons you wish to heat. Placement may be limited to the propane line that will have to be run to fuel the unit.
