Correct, this heater runs off MD-5 propane. Propane consumption is approximately 0.087 gallons per hour @ 8,000 BTU and 0.046 gallons per hour @ 4,200 BTU. On a 4.7gallon(20#) tank, run time is in the range of 54 hours @ 8000BTU and 102 hours @ 4200BTU.

With the right hose/adapter you can run this heater off of a disposable 1# bottle. The stipulation in regards to propane source is the need of inline regulation as the heater does not have an onboard regulator. The propane supply should be regulated to 11"w.c.(0.40 psig)minimum / 13.85"w.c.(0.50 psig)maximum. The gas connection on the heater is 3/8" male flare SAE.
