Rated 5 out of 5 by from On the Go water softner We live full time on our coach and recently we have encountered very hard water in several campgrounds, it was beginning to affect our appliances, coffee tasted awful, while washing and shaving, needed much more soap than usual, hair washing was not good,We bought the On the Go softner and after two days of operation it was a difference of night and day. Showers and hair washing are a treat, the appliances have cleaned up, coffee and tea are great. Now after two weeks we are sorry we did not have this unit from the get go. Highly recommended, easy to maintain, .would not do without it ..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from On The Go Softener This item works great! We had a few bugs to work out, but the people who own the company were most helpful in giving us correct info and instructions on how to properly regenerate the unit. We have had nice soft water in the Texas Hill Country where the water is extremely hard. The unit is very easy to install and is very compact for storage. We would highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking to protect their RV's water system, coffee pots, faucets, etc. Also your skin will feel really soft and hair will be squeaky clean!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product I have been using my softener for a little over four years now and it has been great. The only reason I didn't rate it 5 Stars is that I have found it difficult to get a full box (24 oz.?) of salt into it to backflush. You have to use use something like a slinder knife to keep pushing it down. The rope handle has broken and I can't see that it can be replaced. Other than these minor problems, it is a great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent softner While in Arizona for the winter, we found our water supply to be extremely hard. Went to the internet and ordered this water softner from Campiing World. Camping World delivered this item in less than 4 days which amazed me in itself and the water softner works great. I haven't regenerated it as of yet but the instructions seem very straight forward and easy. I highly recommend this water softner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from on the go We love this water softner, skin is softer, soaps lather great , have had no trouble out of it and we have some really bad hard water. regenerating is a snap. So easy to operate. I cant say enough good things about this softner we are glad to have bought it FYI: when adding salt to the softner pour small amounts of water while pouring in the salt. works great and only takes seconds to regenerate.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Portable Water Softner #34619 It was a welcome addition to our travel trailer. It definitely makes the water softer and taste better. Reduces water scum in shower. I gave it 4 stars because the water flow meter did not work because the water flow rate through the softener is not high enough to turn the internal mechanism. On our last trip we used it for 4 weeks without regenerating and it was still working good (2 people).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soft water for our retirement trip I purchased this unit so we would have soft water in our 38' 5th wheel for our big 'retirement' holiday. I reworked the water system in our unit to install a Watts regulator, that feeds a sediment filter, which feeds this softener, which feeds an UV purifier, which then feeds the water system of the trailer. I plumbed the system so I could route park water through the filter and softener and then out to the park sewer for recharging the softener easily. We were on the road touring for about 10 weeks through parks that had good soft water and extra hard water. We found this unit works consistently well and was easy to recharge and flush with ordinary table salt. In parks where the water was moderately hard we found we could go between one and two weeks between recharges. Heavy water users may want to go to the double sized model. Overall, the unit quality is good, and I would not hesitate to purchase the product again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from On the Go Water Softener Like the 4 previous reviews, we like the unit and it's effective. But after a week of use including a few tear downs and set ups, it's clear the plastic water connections will ensure ample opportunity for water leaks over the useful life of the unit. These connectors also warp too much when tightening to use brass quick-disconnects to ease tear down and set up.

Are there inhibitor additives that can be used for really rusty water?

We'll be at an RV park in Minnesota this summer that is very nice, except everyone complains about the rusty water. Back when we had a house, we had rusty water and had to either use the salt made for that situation, or I remember that Culligan sold a chemical you could dump in with the salt. Does the company who makes this unit have any suggestions on this, or do they sell something we could add to the salt?
    Asked by: Retired Ron
You can use products like <a href=http://www.superironout.com/powders.php>Iron Out</a> or <a href=http://www.proproducts.com/ourbrands/ProChemicals/RustOut.aspx>Rust Out</a> to assist in regeneration of the softener and keep it in good condition. Morton also makes water softening pellet formulated as <a href=http://www.mortonsalt.com/home-product/morton-rust-remover-pellets/>Rust Remover</a>.

If you use it to wash your car will it leave spots?

    Asked by: Anonymous
If your region suffers from hard water, yes a softener will be helpful in reducing water spots as well as increasing the lathering ability of the soap used. For areas that do not have significant hard water, little improvement if any at all will be noticed.

Will this unit prevent water spoting when washing a RV?

    Asked by: Bill
If you local water is known to be 'hard', yes a softener can be very helpful in the washing of a vehicle by increasing performance of the soap used as well as reduce water spotting. If the water is relatively soft, there will be little to no additional benefit using a softener when washing a vehicle.

Can the water be used for drinking that has gone through the water softener?

    Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, water that has passed through this water softener can be used for drinking. However, it is highly recommended that the water be filtrated first then passed through the water softener since the water softener does not filter out unwanted or dangerous elements.
