Good solution if you don't want a traditional antenna
I've used on-glass antennas several times in the past for both CB and
Amateur radios and find them a good solution to drilling holes in your
vehicles or in cases where a suitable ground plane is not available.
They won't perform as good as traditional antennas however they are
much easier to install. The reviews above that state they don't work
except for line of site is a fault of CB radio itself and not the antenna.
CBs are not good for long distance unless they are hooked up to an
amplifier (which is illegal anyway). Overall the on-glass antenna is a
great way to put an antenna on your rig without a lot of fuss.

Nice alternative to drilling
I purchased this as I did not want to have to drill through any part of my motorhome. I was able to affix it to the top of the windshield and run the cable behind the interior molding so that there is no visible cable on either the exterior or interior. Install was a breeze and it has held up through the entire spring, summer and fall season. Just went to check on my unit in its outdoor storage and the antenna was still secure. Reception was just fine. Did have to tighten the screw a couple of times to keep the antenna from banging against the front fiberglass. So far this has been a great buy for me.

works for me
After using several magnet style antenaes, I purchased the thru-glass style from Camping World. I installed it in about 5 minutes at the camp site and immediately began receiving radio traffic from the interstate several miles away. My "radio check" was picked up by several units in the interstate. I personally like this style and it worked great mounted to the rear window of my F150, clearing the roof by about 15 inches. So not being a hard core radio operator I say it works great for me and was alot cheaper than others I have purchased.

Great little antenna
I found the midland thru-the-glass CB antenna works very good for a
small antenna. I can get great range from this little dynamo of an
antenna. What's even better is that I can talk to truckers and they aren't
able to identify who they are talking to because it looks like a cellular
phone antenna. I can call them names if I want and they don't know
who's calling them and I can be right beside them, directly in front of
them and they don't know who they are talking to. What a great little
powerhouse of an antenna.

PowerMax-Through Glass CB Antenna
One of the easist installations I have ever had. I have used Whips, mirror mounts, Magnet Mounts (which come off and scare the H**** out of you) and other through glass mounts. This one performs well and the SWR was preset to channel 19. Overall performance is great though I have not tried it for maximum distance. As a previous OTR driver I have had some very expensive units that didn't perform as well as this one. I'm ordering another to use with my scanner.

I Like It
I was fairly skeptical about this antenna but I really didn't want to poke anymore holes in my RV so I gave it t try. I was surprised. The wave ratio matched up almost perfect. I can't say this about many other CB antennas I have used. It gets out as good or better then all of them. Money well spent!!

Works as expected
We bought this antenna to use while traveling with our RV club. We have had no problems with reception. We find it has about a 2 mile range and is extremely clear even then.

Great reception and trasmission range
I bought this to install on my car just before travelling out of state for a family reunion. It performed much better than I thought it would. I certainly recommend it to others. Very easy to install...

Can the antenna be changed out fora longer whip?
Yes, the whip can replaced with another as the base is threaded. Keep in mind, the mount will have difficulty staying in place with the more weight that is added on from longer/thicker whips.

If magnet, how do you detach from window?
I have one with magnet in rear window and I can't detach it and I don't want to break the window.
These magnets are very strong, it may be best to have another person on the other side of the window to assist you by pulling in the opposite direction.

Whats the thickness of the base mounted outside the glass?
The Power-Max Through-Glass Moblie CB base mounted to the outside of the window would be 1" thick.
