Rated 4 out of 5 by from Retractable dog leash. It is sturdy and well built. My only complaint is, the clasp. I think the clasp is too big for this specific model. Our dog (10 lbs Maltese) was struggling to move around with it. The person who recommended to me has the large version for his German Shepard and it uses the same size clasp. I had to take a trip to my local hardware store to pick a new clasp and some hardware to reattach the cable. After some fiddling, cursing and two beers I was able to fix it. Other than that I’m happy with it. Correction, the wife is happy with it. Review title Well-built just need a little tweaking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It Works - Wish I could Control Length I bought three retractable cable tie outs because I have three Jack Russell Terriers weighing between 14 - 26 pounds. One is a senior citizen but the other two are hell on wheels. The tie outs were easy to install and I was able to pull them back out without my husbands help.We were staying at RV parks and it was a difficult to keep them in our lot, out of the road and out of the next RV spot. I wish there had been a way to control the length of the cable. None of the dogs pulled them out of the ground but one of them chewed on the plastic surrounding the cable and the two little rascals got so tangled up that we had to disconnect them before we could get them out of the mess.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great For Camping With Family Dachshund Great Product!!! We had seen this, but with longer cables and higher weight ratings for the dogs. Finally found this one, which works perfect in the campsite for our Dachshund. He can move around freely, but yet you don't have him getting twenty five and thirty feet away where he becomes tangled up. With the spool also keeping a little constant tension it keeps him from dragging the cable around as he moves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not for small dogs This is a great tie out if your dog is big enough to use it. My dog weighs twelve pounds and she can not pull it out. There is no adjustment to the tension.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from RV dog This is a great tie out while camping, It never gets tangled. However in some camping sites its a bit too long and it goes beyond our site. It would be nice to be able to adjust the length.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Could be improved Its good, but I wish that there was a way to also NOT have it retract. To LOCK it in place at a certain point so its not always pulling. My dog only weighs 12 lbs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well made I do like this and I'm pleased with the quality and the performance, however I only gave 4 stars because I feel the tension is a bit too much (it would be nice if that were adjustable). I have a 15 lb terrier and it's pulling even when she's just lying down, so we have to use it with her harness.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nice concept but useless for small dogs This is rated for dogs up to 30 lbs, but my 8 lb Yorkie doesn't have the strength to pull it out (and she's a stubborn little dog who can do a lot of other things requiring strength). If there were some way to adjust the tension, this would work a lot better; but unfortunately there isn't so we have to hope it's returnable. The description needs to include a lower weight limit, i.e. "dogs between 15-30 lbs".

How hard is it to put in the ground?

Asked by: Tiny
It will depend on the soil density/composition. Ground that is more sandy or silt like will be easier to set the post versus a ground that is more composed of clay.
