Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Upgrade to RV Door. My husband and I recently installed this in our travel trailer. We replaced the clunky frosted window that came standard. This window is a huge improvement, it is well tinted so it blocks a lot of the sun and heat out even with the shade up. With the shade up you can see outside, but anyone looking in will only see shadows. The directions are not very clear, we ended up taping the shade in the frame to hold it in place to install the window. It would have been helpful if the frame had been marked top to bottom. I only gave it 4 stars because directions are not that clear and doesn't tell you,you definitely need 2 people. After it has been in for awhile I may upgrade my rating.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Door window Easy to install by myself. Took my time. The tempered glass emblem should be readable in the outside bottom right corner when installed. The inside frame has about a 3" border across the top to hide the shade when open. I used black duct tape to help hold the shade and glass in place while assembling. I also used duct tape on the top and bottom to hold the outside frame in place while assembling. After assembly, I used window and door silicone sealant around the glass and the outside of frame. Just a safety measure do to seeing signs of leakage from the old window. The shade is easily functional and black outs outside light nicely. By the way if you stand back and look at the back of the box it will say optional template and look closely..... it looks like a picture of a window..... I can only hope this frame will last longer than the 5 year old factory frame the sun beat up and dry rotted. Now that I see how nice this looks and now matches every other window in the RV and easy to install I am going to get a new one for the other door.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great idea It's a great idea and was easy to install but after I installed it I realized that you can't operate the blind when the door is closed because the screen door is in the way. After you close the blind for the night you still have to open the door to see who is knocking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome replacement door window with shade I installed this in my little Puma. Love it. Was not difficult and with a little tape a 1 person job. And to the guy who says there is no template for installing on another location...uh....dude...there is a template on the box. I love the tinted window for normal viewing while opening the RV to that boxed in feeling. Shades for privacy and sun block are great.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Some Issues A couple things to be aware of. I have a 2018 Forest River Wildcat Max. You would think this window would have easily fit right in but the outer trim ring was a little smaller than the one that came with my trailer. It took several attempts to position the outer trim ring to get it to set right in the opening. I tried to make sure the very narrow flange and caulking was touching on all sides. I finished the install and tightened all screws. since it was smaller than the old one I decided to test it with water. It leaked when water was applied to the top. I ended up applying caulk and have not had a chance to test it since the caulk was not cured yet. I am hopeful it wont leak. The manufacturer needs to make the flange about a 1/2 inch larger. You would have more sealing surface. There is a gap between the window frame and 2 of my decals due to it being too small. It states in the instructions that you don't need to caulk since it comes with it. Not true for all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best modification we’ve done. REALLY like this window. Was super easy to install. My husband and I completed it in 15 minutes. I especially like that I can see out. Especially good if someone comes to your door. Instructions could be a bit clearer, but easy to figure out. So glad we did this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice window at reasonable price. This is a nice product however despite what the directions say about only needing a screwdriver to install it do not attempt it alone. The glass is separate from the window frame in the package and the directions say to tape it to frame brefore installing. I did exactly that as the instant I put it into the door the glass fell out and shattered. Had to by a new glass panel. It is a nice window and the shade works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product My earlier review is being updated, vendor sent replacement Slim Shade. New one went in easily, fit great, wife likes the ability to open the shade if she wants or keep closed to cut out the light at night. Great customer service.

Can you see inside by looking diagonally around the side of the shade? Or does the frame cover the openings left by the accordion style blind?

Asked by: Help
The frame will cover the gaps as the blinds are installed beneath the frame.

Does the window need to be caulked?

Asked by: kaptnsmooth
No sealant is required between glass and frame, or window frame and RV door. Both have pre-installed seals.

Will this fit on a 2014 Thor ACE 27.1 door?

Asked by: OrCat
We are not able to verify fit based on RV make/model. You will need to measure the cutout in your door to check fitment of this window & shade kit. Slim Shade Cutout Dimensions: 15-3/16" x 24-3/16"

When the shade is fully raised, how much of the glass is left?

Asked by: GettingOld
Most of the glass is exposed when the shade is fully raise. The pull down bar will sit flush to the inside top edge of the interior window frame.

Would this window work in a cargo trailer door that apparently has no internal framing? How is the shade operated when there is a screen door on a trailer?

Asked by: DONHOL
On a door with no internal structure or solid insulation(like a typical RV door), the empty space between the front & back door panels should be capped or seal. The glass will actually sit inside the provided frame and not on the door. So the frame should have solid contact with the door for good fit and prevent the glass from any movement while it is clamped between interior & exterior frames. Both doors have to be opened, the screen door is separated from the exterior door in order to adjust the shade. There is not a remote way to manipulate the shade hence having to swing both doors open.

I have mirrored glass in my camper doors now for daytime privacy can I take your tinted window glass out of the frame and put my mirrored glass in. Or does the tinted glass have to stay as part of the new window assembly.

Asked by: billy
The provided glass is not integrated in to the frame, so it can be removed. If your mirrored glass is 12.5" x 21", there is a good chance you can reuse it.
