Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good value Had this professionally installed on my Silverado as running the cables into the cab and up into the headliner required some real tools/skill. The camera works well, provides a good view. Bought it over simpler units as I wanted a general back up camera, not just for hitching. I like that you can adjust brightness and contrast on the monitor, as well as sound, but the design of the single button for switching modes as well as these other settings is terrible. I don't bother with the different modes anymore, but I'd like to switch. It's just too much of a hassle. That's the only downside I've seen. I'd still recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes life easier! I've had this camera for over a year now and absolutely love it! Totally makes hitching trailers by yourself sooooo much quicker and easier! I pull multiple trailers often and this is a time saver. The incremental marks are nice for knowing exactly where hitch is in relation to the trailer tounge. Bonus for a general backup camera but the real beauty is in hitching trailers. I have a F350 CrewCab long bed and had to call customer service for the video extension cable, they sent it at no additional cost and I had it in 3days, no complaints, can't ask for better. I mounted camera above rear view mirror, in between mirror and roof. So I can easily veiw all mirrors and camera simultaneously.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Camera This camera is the best for, one, the price and second, for the quality. I just installed this camera in less than 1 hr. The install was so simple for any level of experience, just follow the directions or view the YouTube videos. The quality of clarity on the screen is amazing! I contacted the manufacture because I installed this camera on a 2010 Ford F150 Crew Cab and was concerned the length of the cable that came in the box and they sent me 2 additional cables at no charge! Wow what a great unit, compared to online searches that cost from $300 to $600 for a backup camera that didn't even compare to the Hopkins camera. I would highly recommend this unit for hitching your trailer, or just using as a safety backup camera. It is so precise--that amazed me. The viewing is incredible on the screen.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Camera works great but.... I just finished installing the Smart Hitch Camera on my 07' Ford F150 Super Crew. The camera works as advertised. However, there were a few issues with the installation. It was necessary to grind off a corner of the right sensor mount in order to accommodate tire access for lowering the spare. That sensor also partially covers the license plate expiration tab and that may cause an issue with some law enforcement folks when you are not towing. Other than that it went well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I absolutely Love this Product! I bought this system after quite a bit of research on the net for the perfect setup for my 2000 GMC Yukon. I Love it! It works Perfectly every time and it makes it so much quicker and easier to connect to my trailer! No more jumping out and checking alignment and closeness to the trailer tongue as I attempt to hook up by myself! Plus I now have a great backup camera when just using my Yukon as a passenger car!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Item This back-up camera is awesome. I had a cheep one on my F-150 before I got my Smart hitch camera. The smart hitch camera was so easy to install I couldn't believe it. Everything just plugged in. The picture is very clear at night and in the day. My wife used to get real nervous helping me hook up our trailer, now I do it all by myself. The camera works great in both the trailer hitch mode or as a back-up camera. Great Price too. I would recommend it to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smart Hitch Camera & Sensor System Installed system in less than 1 hour in Ford F-150 Super Cab 5 1/2 foot bed! Mounted screen on top of dash with plenty of cable to spare. Camera and sensor alarm works great! My RV dealer wanted to charge 3 hours labor at $105/hr. Kit was very easy to install yourself. Hitching to trailer is so much easier now. No more twisting my head around and trying to guess if I am aligned properly.

Will this work on a Jeep Wrangler?

Since my 2013 Jeep Wangler's License plate is mounted over the driver's side taillight....I assume this camera wouldn't work for hitching?
Asked by: cptphilb
The camera and sensors has an adjustable tilt, but must be inline with the hitch ball, so this product is not suitable for vehicles that have an offset license plate mount.

Woud we have to buy another one to attach to our tow behind camper to get into tough spots in campgrounds

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, another set would have to be purchased along with extra connection cable. Or another camera and a lot of connection cable but would have to swap the cable connections to the monitor by hand when you want another camera feed. This system is designed more of a full time backup camera system for the towing vehicle as opposed to hookup to a trailer or 5th wheel.

Does vehicle have to be in reverse for camera and monitor to work?

Asked by: Anonymous
If you follow the provided instructions, the camera will only have power when in reverse, however, you may wire it to any 12v power, but should add a switch to turn off camera power at night, distraction from lighted screen.

Can this be put in the bed of the pickup for 5th wheel hookup?

Say mount it on the underside of the front bed rail pointing back over the 5th wheel hitch? Would like this to line up the in bed hitch and pinbox. ! I have a camera on the tailgate, but it's down when backing into 5er :-}
Asked by: John
This should work, however the only issue I see with this would be the power connection. This item is plugged in behind the tow connector, and I am unsure if there would be enough wiring to get this item plugged in.
