Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why Pay More? When I saw this 50 amp surge protector I thought there must be some mistake. It is so much cheaper than it's competitors. There is only one way to really know if it works, but so far, so good. It also has handy power testing indicator lights. I have only seen one other camper using a surge protector, so I wonder how much they are really needed anyway and if they are just for peace-of-mind. This one is all black and hard to see, and the others are brightly colored and stand out, just begging to be stolen.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Surge protector Have lost two entire contents of 23cf side-by-side refrigerator/freezer on two different occasions since purchasing this surge protector. Last night storms went through area and lost the second fully stocked refrigerator and freezer of food. It does not work. And warranty does not cover "acts of god" such as lightning or any other power surges.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Must Have for Any RVer This is a really great surge protector. We have used the 30amp for about 3 years now and it has saved us several times. We recently upgraded our 5ver to 50 amp service and the first thing we did was order the 50 amp protector. The protector is easy to use just wish the lights were easier to see in bright sun light. Light codes are easy to understand and the lifetime warranty really helps and the cost compared to similar units is a BIG Plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Surge protector for The Money This surge protector is easy to use and a lot lighter and smaller than other brands. It's also a lot cheaper with better warranty. We recently upgraded our fifth wheel to fifty amp service and we have been using this brand in the 30 amp size and it always worked great and does not take up a lot of room on the pole or when stored as storage, and it is always premium in any RV. The no questions asked lifetime warranty is also a BIG plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Discreet and Easy to Use I've had this product for 4 years and feel better having the electrical circuit I'm plugging into confirmed safe before plugging in my RV. The unit is smaller than most making it less likely to be stolen while I'm on my day-trips at destinations I visit. It's size also makes it easier to store when not in use.

Does it protect against power surges up and power drops?

Also, one answer said to send it in after a surge. Does that mean you can only be protected against on surge, and then have to send it in; or can you re-set it and continue using after it protects you each time?
Asked by: Anonymous
This surge protector will only protect from high voltage, not voltage drops. A voltage regulator/booster is needed when drops occur. If a surge occurs, the unit will continue to operate. Return to the manufacturer is not required unless the surge is catastrophic to the surge protector and no longer operates.

Why did mine cost $430

I just purchased one that looks very similar, is for 50 AMPS, but it is a little longer looking, is guaranteed FOR LIFE? It DOES have a locking ring, however, that cannot be the reason it is so expensive? Sure hope you can tell me I made a good decision because I was told the one I purchased was great, but did NOT wish to spend much more than $100-$150? BUT WHY SO MUCH COMPARED TO THIS ONE, PLEASE HELP? THANK YOU! MIKE

Likely it comes down to the types of features the other unit may have. <p>This surge protector (56424) can be viewed as a basic model, simple light indicators for dual line circuit testing with surge protection. A rough analogy would be a standard function calculator to a scientific graphing calculator. At the core, they perform the same task, but one has much more advanced features.
