Additional Information
The Rock Solid Tow Guard is the effective way to reduce the costly damage that road debris can cause to your towed vehicle. Rock Solid Guards are made of exhaust heat resistant rubber. This new material is 3/8" thick vulcanized molded rubber that is impervious to extreme exhaust heat and won't melt or deform. The Rock Solid design allows air to flow through the vented flaps to allow flexibility and prevent heat build-up, but it's sturdy enough to stop rocks or small road debris. These Rock Solid Guards install easily onto your RV.

This Rock Solid Protective Guard consists of two 16"H x 48"L pieces that permanently mount to the rear bumper of the RV. Trim or eliminate strips to accommodate mufflers, hitches, or wiring. Mounting brackets are galvanized steel. Installation may require some drilling.

Measuring Instructions: Measure from bumper to ground and subtract 4" to determine correct height.

Note: This item should attach directly to a metal bumper, but may require some drilling. For any other application, you may need additional hardware (sold separately).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy Install Package arrived ok. kind of large to play football with. The hardest part was to find a place to mount it. Chose the alternate method, used angle iron and found a place midway between drive tires and rear bumper just ahead of the spare on my P32 chassis. Drilled the holes, did a dry run mock up, trimmed the excess and put it all together. Have not had a chance to check this install out for effectiveness.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rock Solid Guard- For 16 x 48 Added the guards to the bottom of the bumper on our class c with self tapping screws. Got them on sale, good deal either way. Look good and will keep some of the road grime off of our toad. Happy with product so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock Solid Guard Not too hard to put on as long as you have the correct tools. Had to drill a hole through the rubber guard for the generator exhaust and one for the tow trailer electric hook up. Haven't towed a vehicle behind the RV yet so can't comment on effectiveness of the guard. Looks good on the RV.

looking at the smart solutions rock guard, (1) how to measure length & width to order correct size, (2) do you need a iron angle to install the guard. We have a Forest river motor home 30DS.

Asked by: poppy1
Measure from bumper to ground and subtract 4" to determine correct height. And for the question about the iron angle, if you are mounting it to the bumper you do not need an angle bar. If you are mounting to the frame you do.

mounting

I purchased this item from Camping world. In this picture, you show it mounted to the fiberglass bumper. My class a has the same configuration. Is it ok to mount it to the fiberglass as long as I have the angle iron on the other side? I just want to make sure.
Asked by: barryb
According to the manufacturer, when mounting to a fiberglass bumper. It is recommended that the fiberglass be reinforced with something like flat stock aluminum or steel.
