What does it mean that this unit plugs into pedestal with no pigtail for power cord. How does my unit electrical cord connect to this unit or doesn't it?
The corded side of this Surge Guard is a male plug that attaches to the pedestal. At the bottom of this unit is an RV 30amp female receptacle for the power cord from a camper to plug in to.

Can I hook this up to my generator?
Yes, the 442xx series can be safely plugged in to a generator that has a TT-30 receptacle or by using an appropriate adapter.<p>However, most portable generators are designed with a "floating neutral electrical system"(refer to generator manual or manufacturer for this information), so the Surge Guard may show an open ground fault. This can be corrected with Southwire/Surge Guard part#44400(Neutral-Ground Bonding Plug), contact our Technical Service Department @ 800.622.6264(M-F, 8:00-5:00 CST) to check pricing and availability as this part has to be special ordered.
