Additional Information
Progressive Industries' Hardwired Electrical Management System (EMS) provides full RV surge and electrical protection against all adverse power conditions.

Whenever electrical power falls below 104 volts or rises above 132 volts, the EMS automatically shuts down power to the RV.

Once the electrical power rises above 104-volts, or below the 132-volt level, the time delay indicator flashes for the preset time and then automatically restores power to the RV. Features include: Built-in digital readout, built-in surge fault indication, amperage meter, voltage meter, frequency meter, integrated digital readout, 3-mode surge protection, and reverse polarity protection, open neutral/open ground protection, lost/open neutral protection and AC frequency protection. Factory setting 15 seconds but can be adjusted to a 2 minute 16 seconds (136 seconds) delay for A/C Protection. Frequency Protection (Low <51Hz, High 69HZ).

Modular design for easy repair, eliminating removal of the unit. Should the software ever change, EMS owners can receive a free upgrade at no cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from piece of mind Saw the voltage protection device in a seminar at the Louisville Good Sam Rally this year (2012). Since I had some problems in the past with low voltage I realized that the risk ,no matter how small was just not worth taking a chance. I chose the unit from Progressive Industries due to more detailed infromation from its display and it had a much better warrenty than other brands. My unit is the hardwired and install was straight foward and no problem . Now I just plug in knowing that no current flows into my class A coach till unit analyzes connection and it checks OK.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Progressive Surge Protector Great product. I had the base model of the Progressive Surge Protector series that didn't have voltage protection or delay. I realized that I was becoming complacent in not unplugging and plugging protector alone before checking polarity, ground, etc. which was defeating those protection functions. With this model, it checks those functions and many more before connecting power to the coach and it constantly checks these safety functions while plugged in. The design also makes it easy to replace the sacrificial Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs) in the event of protecting the coach's electrical system from a lighting strike. The only trouble I encounter with instillation instillation was the small space allowed for the current coils made it difficult to make the connections.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Glad I have it but so far have not needed it, but it is there! This was an easy installation. I've got it inside the compartment with my electrical cord, plenty of room. I like the ability to tighten against the wires PLUS a very heavy cable clamp, thus keeping excess tension from the retaining screws to the wires themselves. So far I have been lucky and not taken advantage of the safety features. I've only went camping with it once. I know I will feel safer this winter moving around in AZ to different campgrounds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Save your RIG from Bad Electrical Power I'm a professional Electrical Engineer and Electrician for over 45 years and I have installed the direct wired system in my last 2 motorhomes. I have seen campground voltage range from 95 volts all the way up to 160 volts and this little baby will not activate until all the preset standards are met. The best money you can spend to protect everything in your rig.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best monitor/ surge suppressor on the market. I've owned a Progressive Industries LCHW50 since 2011. This unit provides wonderful peace of mind when connecting to notoriously unreliable campground power sources. The monitor display tells you everything you need to know about the power source and, most importantly, it will not connect power to your RV unless it is of acceptable quality (voltage, frequency, grounds, etc.). Progressive's customer support is amazing. One of the great features of this unit is that it is field serviceable! That means you (or your electrician) can replace any of the components in the unit if they fail. There are times when you'll need to bypass the monitor to connect power. You should buy the bypass switch and install it with the unit. This is a fantastic device and great company. If you want the remote display, buy the HW version but I'd recommend mounting the display where it will be visible while you are outside connecting power to the RV. I've never felt the need for a remote display.

Will the surge protector still work if I’m using my 3500 W champion generator inverter without needing to turn off the protector?

Asked by: dean
Yes, you can still connect your RV to a portable generator (except a Yamaha EF2000iS), even with an appropriate 'generator plug' if needed. Below is the note provided by the manufacturer in regards to generators. "If you have a Progressive industries EMS (electrical management system) surge protector installed, we recommend using a bonded neutral generator. If your generator is not neutral grounded you can find articles on multiple sites detailing ways to properly bond a generator. NOTE: We no longer offer a generator plug to resolve this issue."

Does this 50 amp package work correctly if I plug into a 30 amp pedestal with a dogbone?

Asked by: Fiddler
Assuming a "dogbone" is a typical 50 to 30 amp adapter, the answer is yes. The unit will work properly with any 120 or 240 volt service applied and, it will check to make sure your adapters and the supplied power are wired and configured properly. If not, it will give you a fault code and prevent power from being applied to the RV. I've supplied power to my coach via this unit from 50 amp, 30 amp, standard 15/20 amp wall outlets, and offboard generators. It performs flawlessly.
