I installed this on my 5th wheel in 10 minutes. It works great. I don't think you could beat it for the price.

Do you have spare tires mounts that connect to an open 1.25" hitch on the back of my trailer? Or should I just clamp it to the bumper above the open hitch/mount?
All of the hitch mounted spare tire carriers are made for a 2" receiver. A reducer can be used to hookup the spare tire carrier to a 1.25" square as long as the weight capacities of the receiver and reducer are not being exceeded. The alternative as already mentioned is to use a bumper model carrier if a vehicle/RV has a welded 4" square metal bumper.

I have a Jayco motor home. Please advise if this is the correct model for a 225/75 R16 spare.
This carrier can hold 15" - 16" tires, larger sizes would use Stromberg Carlson part# VFX-9330.
