Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick-Easy-Great We are full-timers and my wife installed the Wingman on our Georgetown motorhome. Before the Wingman was installed we could only get reception for a local station in Tampa 8.1 and some channels above that. After installing the Wingman we reprogrammed our DTV box and recieved channels down to 3.1 and more channels that we did not get before. My wife was delighted with the quick installation. She said it took more time to climb up on the roof of the coach than it did to install the Wingman. We travel alot so we will do updates on the reception in the other areas that we travel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked ok for Me Just recently took a trip to Gulf Shores with this product attached. On a previous trip to the same area the tv signal strength meter was in the 40 to 45 range with the wingman installed the signal strength was anywhere from the mid 80s to the low 90s. It looks like it works. It seems to work best if you use tvfool.com with your location to verify the direction the wingman needs to be pointed. I am happy with it BUT because of the antenna length now when lowering it down in travel position it has to be cocked to clear the a/c shroud but in that position it is stowed well enough to travel. So be sure to measure the area it will be mounted in for clearance......it seems to be worth it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Clearance Issue This appears to be a well built addition for the Winegard Antenna. I was looking forward to installing it and seeing the difference in my reception. Unfortunately, my travel trailer did not have enough clearance between the antenna and the refrigerator vent so I could not use the wingman attachment. I believe it takes at least six (6) inches of clearance to effect an installation. This is not a reflection on Winegard quality, just an installation issue that I believed prospective buyers should take into consideration before purchasing this addition. I was able to give the antenna to my dad for his travel trailer. He has not installed it yet so I don't know what reception improvements he may have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install Instructions say to install with the antenna in the raised position. We turned our antenna to the side of the camper and lowered it all the way down. We were able to install it in about 5 minutes standing in the back of our pickup. We installed it while camping in a poor reception area where we couldn't watch any of the 4 channels picked up. With the Wingman, we didn't pick up any additional channels but the 3 digital channels turned crystal clear and reception on the analog channel was vastly improved. Might give this a 5-star with further use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, But Won't Fit Signal Commander I made the same mistake as some others, assuming my RV's antenna was a Winegard, when instead it was a look-alike Signal Commander. The Wingman could be installed on a Signal Commander only by Jerry Rigging. I installed the Winegard Sensar IV antenna head with integral amplifier, which gives a perfect fit and excellent reception when mounted to the Signal Commander mast. Both the Winegard and Signal Commander websites recommend against using different components with their products, but this installation fit exactly, performed superbly, and looked perfect. It took less than half an hour to change out the antenna head - one co-ax connector to unscrew, then reconnect, and two pins with retaining clips to remove and replace. New pins and retaining clips are packed with the Winegard Sensar IV head.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy to install Installation was a breeze. Unfortunately, we were never in a location to really feel the extent of coverage improvement. Winterizing and putting the RV into hibernation are what's important now. We'll get a better opportunity as we travel next spring. I would like Camping World to charge the correct amount for delivery to my door in Canada. Nothing is worse than an additional customs fee. The unit eventually cost me 3 times the price. Should have purchased this item in Canada.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy change that made a difference I upgraded the TVs in my RV to digital last summer. With the existing amplified Winegard antenna the TVs intermittently picked up 4 channels. I installed the Wingman and the TVs picked up 11 total channels from Minneapolis steadily and clearly. I was camping at the time 60 miles north of Mpls/St Paul. (Flat terrain) This is a simple easy to install solution for better reception. In my case the existing antenna was clear of obstructions and it took about 5 minutes to install.

What is the reception range?

Asked by: Robert
The Wingman is an attachment for a Sensar batwing antenna. An amplified Sensar III has a range approximately 20 to 45 miles. With the Wingman attached, it will boost range up to 55 miles primarily increasing the ability to receive UHF signal.

How much clearance room do you need?

When the original Winegard is retracted, and laying on the roof, how much additional space is required for this Wingman attachment?
Asked by: Gizmo
With the Wingman installed, you will need at least 10" of clearance between antenna and the nearest obstruction or roof edge.
